I Love Garlic
Garlic is one of the most useful herbs I have ever encountered. I love using it in cooking. The taste is so good. Too much can be too overpowering, but a medium amount is good for me. There are also other uses for garlic.
Garlic has many medicinal uses. It is good for lowering blood pressure, helping to lower cancer risks and much more. Many doctors recommend taking garlic tablets once a day. I don’t take tablets but I do eat plenty of garlic.
Garlic is also pretty easy to grow. You can buy the herb in the store or plant it yourself. Be sure to have a sunny spot if you plan to grow your own garlic.
Here are a couple of my favorite garlic recipes. I love mashed potatoes, especially garlic mashed potatoes. To make these peel and chop 4 potatoes. Boil and drain them. Add 1/4 cup milk and sugar, salt and pepper to taste. Mince 1 garlic clove and add to potatoes. Then if desired add 2 cooked and crumbled bacon strips. Mash the potatoes and these ingredients and you will have some tastey potatoes. For some reason red potatoes taste even better but they are a little more expensive.
You may also want to try garlic red potato salad. Peel and cube 1 pound of red potatoes. Boil and drain. Make sure they are fork tender and not mashed potato consistency. Add 1 or 2 minced garlic cloves and salt and pepper to taste. Add 1 cup mayonaise and 1/4 c relish. You may add a little minced onion and mustard. Add 2 cooked and crumbled strips of bacon and 1 hard boiled egg chopped. Mix this all together and chill for at least 1 hour before serving. This is some good potato salad. You may also add some chopped black olives for an even better taste.
