There are many questions about herbs. Here are some important questions and answers that will be helpful.

What is the best location for my herb garden? A location that will offer at least 4 hours of sunlight is best. An ideal location is one with 6 hours of sunlight. Be sure the location is well drained and ventilated.

What type of soil do herbs like? Most herbs do well with soil that has alkaline to neutral pH 7.0-7.2. Oregano, sweet marjoram, sage and rosemary especially need this. If you fiil a bucket 1/4 full of unsprayed lawn clippings and top with water, soak in the sun a few days this gives a good nitrogen boost to herbs.

How often do herbs need to be watered? This is a hard question to answer. If they are established in the ground with a good layer of mulch generally they may be watered 2-3 times a week. It is best to water herbs in the morning. Water herbs when the soil is dry to the touch. Do not overwater.

What are the best organic herbs to start a garden? Most herb gardens begin with culinary herbs such as basil (summer annual), oregano, parsley, rosemary, thyme, dill (quick growing annual), chives, mint (best kept confined or mint will take over the garden). There are many others to start with but these are the basics.

Does an organic herb garden need to be fertilized? Yes! Some slower growing plants like sage and thyme not as much. Others like basil and parsley need a lot. Fertilizers are best applied in the morning but never to stressed or dried plants because it may burn foliage. Soak these plants and feed the next day.

How can insects be controlled organically? Most can be controlled with neem oil (only use this if nothing else works). This needs to be used fortnightly. Bacillus thuringensis (bt) can be used on caterpillars. Use every 2 weeks in caterpillar season.

Will my herbs grow well indoors? Herbs do not grow as well indoors. A sunny porch or deck would work.

As we can see there are a lot of things to know about herbs. These are the most basic FAQs I found. They were helpful to me and I’m sure they will be helpful to you.

The world that we live in today is full of deadlines, traffic jams, convenience foods and sedentary activities. In our struggle to make life easier and more successful , I think people have actually made their lives more complicated by generating more room for the mundane and insignificant, and losing focus on whats really important. At the end of the day, nothing really matters if you’ve busied yourself to exhaustion and do not have measure to enjoy all of the dazzling things that life has to offer.

Ironically, thats why were so busy in the first place. We work long hours to build a decent amount of pay so we can enjoy the nicest cars, eat out at the fanciest restaurants, and wear the best clothing. Dont get me wrong I am not quote that these things are bad. I enjoy a grand meal out and a nice pair of new shoes like most everybody would. What I am saying is that we are avoiding the thing that REALLY makes us who we are our inner self.

How often does the average person take measure out to do things that makes us truly grounded? I cant give you statistical data, but answer the question for yourself. What kinds of things do you do each day to connect with the earth? Do you garden, go hiking, play an outdoor sport or recycle? Do you meditate almost always ? When was the last instant you prepared a meal that didnt come from a box, can or fast food window? If youre the average busy human , you can have to think for quite a bit before coming up with an answer.

I think one of the most important things we may do to keep ourselves lively and healthy is to somehow connect with the earth on a regular basis. You dont have to be a hippie or tree-hugger to do it either. Im talking about things that you may do right in the comfort or immediate surroundings of your home. Bring nature into your home just as you would a close friend or family member, and I guarantee that your life and vitality will flourish.

There are so many ways that you can connect with the earth at home. My most beloved ways of connecting have to do with the use of essential oils, herbs and other plant life in my daily activities. All living things contain a life energy that passes to other individuals who knowledge them. By making these things part of your every day life, you start to absorb those life energies, making you a happier, healthier human .

Below is a list of some different ways you can start including the life energy of botanicals and essential oils into your everyday life. Many of these things are simple and will only take a few minutes of your time, but may produces hours of happiness and years of longevity when properly used.

- Use the freshest herbs in your cooking. Many everybody make use of dried herbs for their convenience, but commonly keep them long after they have lost their best flavor. To ensure that youre using the freshest herbs possible, store them in a dry area away from the stove, where heat will cause them to sooner lose their flavor. Also, when measuring out herbs, pour the necessary amount in your hand away from the top of the pot or pan, so steam rising from your dish doesnt enter the container, causing your herbs to spoil sooner. Also, spend a few more dollars on quality herbs. They always taste better, and youll end up using less. Most importantly, use fresh herbs whenever you can, either purchasing small amounts at the market or growing a small windowsill garden in your kitchen for effortless access.

- Decorate with nature. A few drops of your most adored essential oil in a warm container of oil might improve your mood and build the house smell wonderful. Wreaths made from bunches of herbs might be both attractive and add color to your front door. Coming up with projects to contruct your home more lively, or giving the gift of herbs and essential oils to friends and family can add an enriching element to your life.

- Prevent common illnesses with essential oils instead of using prescribed and over-the counter medicines. Prior to learning about essential oils, I had regular sinus infections and headaches that caused me to take frequent amounts of decongestants and aspirin. At the time I was unaware that these drugs we are really only masking my symptoms, and not really curing my problems at all. I later learned that many headaches come from dehydration; a glass of water and some eucalyptus oil usually did the trick.

- Make homemade skincare recipes whenever possible. While natural skincare may not last as long without the preservatives, the fresh ingredients without the inclusion of chemical ingredients will certainly show a difference on your skin. Ingredients such as fresh fruits and vegetables may easily be pureed or juiced, then added to milk, honey, and oatmeal to build delicious cleansers, scrubs and bath soaks. You can even utilize some of the herbs and spices that you keep in your kitchen to prepare natural skincare remedies.

Aromatherapy is a growing area of interest as North America continues its search for alternative and complimentary applications of natural medicines. The utilize of herbal supplements in our daily lives is one excellent example of this.

Aromatherapy, however, is still in the realm of uncertainty. People are familiar with the term, most have heard of essential oils, but still few know how to make use of them in practical applications.

Heres a short list of some examples of ways to enhance your daily life with essential oils.

1. Diffuse in air with a ceramic or electric diffuser to clean or fragrance the air.

2. Facial steam - add a few drops of oils to boiling water, place your face over the bowl and drape your head with a towel and breathe deeply.

3. Bath water - add 4-10 drops to your bath or jacuzzi.

4. Skin spray - add 4-10 drops of oil to 60 mls (2 oz) distilled water in a misting bottle then spray skin for a fresh uplift to the day.

5. Linen spray to freshen sheets & towels - identical as the skin spray but mix 20-30 drops to 60 ml (2 oz) and spray your sheets.

6. Remove the cap from the oil bottle and breathe deeply for a quick pick-me-up.

7. Room spray - same as linen spray but the concentration is 50-75 drops to 60 ml (2 oz) of distilled water.

8. Hand or foot bath - add 4-6 drops of oil to warm water and soak your hands or feet in it. For tired feet, also add 2 tablespoons of epsom salts to the water.

9. Massage oil is easily made by adding 10-20 drops of oil to 30 ml (1 oz) of carrier oil, such as grapeseed, olive, sweet almond, jojoba, etc. Cut the amount of essential oil in half for children.

10. After your shower, put a few drops of oil on a washcloth and rub vigorously over your body.

11. Put a few drops of eucalyptus oil on a cloth by your pillow at night to help breathing when struck by a cold or flu.

12. Hot compresses are wonderful on sore, tired muscles. Add 5-10 drops of oil to hot (not boiling) water. Soak a cloth in the water, wring it out and place on the affected area. Repeat as needed.

13. Cold compresses - for headaches and swelling. Same as hot compresses but utilize cool to cold water.

14. Sniff lavender or peppermint for headaches.

15. Dab tea tree on acne pimples to help clear up the infections.

16. Revive old potpourri mixes by adding 10-20 drops to the mix and stirring.

17. Create your own perfumes by blending favourite oils in beeswax or oil bases and apply.

18. Sniff peppermint oil for nausea, including morning sickness, motion sickness and carnival rides.

19. For infant colic, apply a warm - not hot - compress with roman chamomile on the tummy.

20. Massage menstrual cramps with clary sage diluted in a vegetable carrier oil like grapeseed or jojoba.

21. Gently massage varicose veins with a massage oil containing cypress.

22. Add a few drops of eucalyptus to your shampoo to help dandruff problems.

23. Help smooth wrinkles by massaging nightly with a few drops of frankincense diluted in sweet almond oil or rosehip seed oil.

24. For depression diffuse jasmine or rose in the air.

25. After a long night on the town, add juniper to your bath to help detoxify your body.

Remember, that essential oils are commonly too concentrated to make use of directly on your skin. They absolutely need to be diluted for application. As with anything, there are exceptions.

Lavender and tea tree are the most almost always used oils that could be applied directly on the skin (neat) in small doses.

There are many excellent resources on essential oils and their effects on body, spirit and mind. Some oils have contra-indications so it is important that you learn about any oil before using it.

Essential oils are sizeably efficient companions to enhancing your daily life, when used appropriately.

Break out a bottle of oil and sniff it today!

Tea Tree oil is one of the most popular of the essential oils. It is one of the strongest natural antiseptics, generally referred to as the “Universal Antiseptic.” This quality makes it one of the most worthwhile ingredients in homemade cleaning recipes. Tea Tree oil is also well tolerated having no known allergic reactions.

The instant has come for us to reject the chemical-laden, air-polluting, health destroying, hazardous, commercial household cleaning products. There is something wrong when big corporations are using, “Trade Secrets,” which means they are free to put harmful chemicals in the products that we utilize everyday in our homes. Manufacturers are not required to list them on the label.

There are some businesses that provide us with many excellent eco-friendly, nontoxic-cleaning products, but it is more economical and satisfying to contruct our own. You can notice that once you beginning using natural, safe cleaning products, you will not want to go back to using chemicals. The change is so pleasant to our bodies physiologically, and so soothing emotionally that we can not go back to harsh chemicals.

Clinical studies have documented the value of Tea Tree oil, which date back to the original work conducted in 1923 by Dr. A. R. Penfold, an Australian government chemist. He found that Tea Tree leaves contained an essential oil, which showed antiseptic and bacterial properties 13 times stronger than carbolic acid, the accepted standard of the instant. In 1930, Mr. E. M. Humphrey published an article entitled “A New Australian Germicide.” He identified that Tea Tree oils disinfectant action on the typhoid bacilli was sixty times greater than that of ordinary hand soap. So important was Tea Tree in the 1940s that it was standard issue in first aid kits for army and navy personnel.
Tea Tree oil turns out to be one of the most useful of all essential oils, especially as an antiseptic. The antiseptic, germicidal, antifungal, antibacterial immune-boosting qualities of Tea Tree oil generate it applicable to a wide range of health conditions. In addition, the antiseptic benefits of the oil allow its use as a natural cleaner and disinfectant within the household environment.

Tea tree oil has many uses for housekeeping. You might prove to yourself how well it works to kill mold and mildew with this simple test: Put 2 teaspoons of Australian tea tree oil in a spray bottle with two cups of water. Spray the mixture on something musty. Let the smell dissipate (it will take a few days). The smell of mold and must will be gone, too, never to return as long as the source of moisture has been removed.

You may build your own cleaning supplies with antibacterial properties that nature provides. Youll feel a whole lot brighter and energetic after a few hours with essential oils than you will after breathing the fumes of toxic chemicals.

What is Emu Oil?

Emu oil was discovered by Aborigines many thousands of many years ago as a skin moisturizer, antiseptic, and as an aid in the relief of sunburn, muscular aches and joint pain, as well as aiding in the healing of injuries. The emu oil is rendered from a thick layer of fat on the back yielding 5 - 7 liters of unsaturated, non-toxic, highly penetrating oil.
Over ten months of research done at Global Canyon Ranch (Texas) has revealed that the emu oil has unique thermodynamic properties. Combined with other ingredients, the oil could be used to machine stainless steel much more rapidly, thus considerable savings in labor results.

The emu oil is the greatest emollient in the world. It penetrates the skin better than mink or any other natural oil, and lacks long chain fatty acids which is conducive to a long shelf-life.

Emu Oil is considered a complete source of essential fatty acids. Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) are fats that humans cannot manufacture or synthesize. We must obtain them from our diet. Like vitamins and minerals they are essential to the bodys functions. Incredibly, this amazing oil contains omega 3,6,9 essential fatty acids and is a powerful skin moisturizer and possesses strong anti-inflammatory properties.

Emu Oil for Anti Wrinkle.

Billions of Microscopic Three-Dimensional Nanoprisms! Heres “so what.” Almost nobody knows this… but… the human eye cannot see a wrinkle. What the eye sees is actually the shadow made by the wrinkle. And, since all those billions of microscopic nanoprisms refract light.

This effect will last until you wash your face and the invisible silicon dioxide is removed. And get this: Remember how I told you the main ingredient in this cosmetic cream is made from emu oil? Well, it turns out emu oil is most definately the best cosmetic ingredient in the world. Thats because its molecules are much smaller than the molecules in human skin.

Your skin tells a lot about you. Someone who looks at your face may fairly often tell if you haven’t had enough rest, if you’ve been slacking on your diet, or if you moisturize regularly. Your skin may also tell someone a lot about your state of mind.

Its pretty obvious when you’re embarrassed because your face will get flushed. Thats not what I mean. I’m referring to life’s problems that pile up, stress you out, and keep you from performing at your ultimate best. Long periods without grand nutrition will construct skin pale and flaky, while a lack of moisture in your body may construct skin tight and pinched-looking. Late nights and stressful situations might cause breakouts, oily skin and a tired, harried appearance that may keep you from looking your best.

With our busy lifestyles, its hard to imagine how we may sleep more, eat better and stay hydrated enough to keep life’s problems from showing up on your face. Fortunately, you might easily combat some of these problems by carefully choosing quick ways to relax and rejuvenate your body that wont break the bank.

Natural skincare products containing essential oils will not only help to improve your skins appearance, but they have a double-duty effect with their aromatherapy benefits. For example, lavender essential oil is beneficial for people with minor cuts, scrapes, rashes and mild sunburn. It is also great for relaxation, creating lavender a useful tool for eliminating stress.

Another dazzling essential oil for mood enhancement is clary sage. It helps to balance the skins natural production of sebum, building it a suitable choice whether your skin is too oily or too dry. At the identical instant, clary sage is well known for its hormone balancing effects, eliminating the mood swings and cramping that fairly often occur during your menstrual cycle.

When you are choosing skincare products with essential oils, look for ones that contain little to no fragrance so you receive the full benefit of the aromatherapy at work. Also check the labels for chemicals which might cause allergic reactions and thwart your efforts to clear up your skin. With the right products, you will begin to feel better emotionally, your appearance will change for the better, and many people will certainly take notice.

Pure, unadulterated essential oils and never will be. From personal knowledge, I’ve learned that sniffing an essential oil is quite safe for the skin, as is tea tree, but some people might have allergic reactions to them. When handling essential oils, take care in handling them. Lavender essential oil is quite safe for the skin, as is tea tree, but some people can have allergic reactions to them.
